To activate the fish scales, you will need a handful of silver coins (or coins of another white alloy). So you need to go through the day, then get the bones, rinse them 7 times with running water and put them back in the box. A box with bones, like a bag with fish scales, should be kept open for 3 days, and then closed and put in a secluded place in the kitchen.
